No Acer Game Console

Sunday, March 23rd, 2008

Just as we thought - Acer would not be joining in on the game console market. An Acer representative mentioned that “Acer is not going to release any game console but the idea is to develop a high-end PC (so not a console) targeted at the serious gamer” to clear things up. Time to go back to your Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360 and PS3, boys and girls.

Microsoft releasing XP SP3 this week?

XP may not EOL until this June, but that doesn’t mean it’s not in need of the same kind of tender lovin’ update packs as OSes of every variety occasionally receive. And according to CRN, the long awaited XP SP3 could be due out as early as tomorrow, or possibly later this week. We’ll keep an eye out — we know it’s hard to let XP go.

Gadget Display shows you important info about your PC

Sunday, March 23rd, 2008

There are many different things about your computer that are good to keep an eye on, especially if you’re one that enjoys pushing your PC to the limit. I tend to push my PC pretty hard, which means I need to keep an eye on the temperatures at all times. There are generally two options here: keep a software monitor running on desktop taking up valuable screen space, or you can have an lcd monitor installed on the front of your computer. Neither one is all that appealing to me, which is why I’m intrigued by this Gadget Display.

This little gadget is a 2-inch color LCD screen which connects to  your PC via USB. You can set this anywhere, likely near your monitor somewhere.  It can display dozens of different things ranging from a clock, CPU and RAM usage. We don’t have a lot of information on this little gadget, however, there is likely a way to get this to display other things such as your CPU or motherboard temperature.

Aluminum Laptop Briefcase

Sunday, March 23rd, 2008

I’m pretty sure you remember the feeling of bringing home a shiny new laptop, and you would (for at least a month) do all you can to prevent it from getting any scratches or nicks. Here’s the Aluminum Laptop Briefcase for all you first timers out there.

Keep your laptop safe in this hard shelled case and look stylish to boot. The Aluminum Laptop Briefcase looks like you filled it with diamonds and snuck it out of a bank vault, but in reality it has adjustable interior dividers to hold up to a 17″ laptop in comfort and style. Of course no metal briefcase would be complete without a pair of combination locks and a myriad of pockets to store documents, cables and accessories.

Get some protection for your laptop today for $49.99 a pop.

Cellink USB microSD memory card reader

Sunday, March 23rd, 2008

Cellink of Korea has launched a new USB microSD memory card reader that is built into a mobile charger, targeting the Korean market specifically. The Cellink T doubles up as a portable data storage when you slide it open, and if you need to charge your handset, change it to swing mode instead. In addition, it makes for the perfect intermediary tool to transfer data like photos, videos and music from a phone to PC and vice versa. No idea if this will be exported outside of Korea or not.

50-LED Solar Motion Floodlight

Sunday, March 23rd, 2008

Since the 50-LED Solar Motion Floodlight relies on the power of the sun to get it going, you don’t have to worry about spoiling your room with ugly wiring.

Super-bright 50-LED floodlight is as bright as a 10w halogen bulb, and stays on for 15-60 seconds (your choice) past last motion detected. And since this motion sensor light is solar-charged, you can mount it anywhere, even where there’s no electricity: shed, pool area, deck. 15′ cord connects the adjustable solar panel to the light, to position the panel in direct sunlight. Plus, this solar security light has an adjustable light sensor that prevents daylight turn-on. Pivoting motion detector adjusts for sensitivity. The 50-LED Solar Motion Floodlight also features automatic/off switch.

You will be able to pick up the 50-LED Solar Motion Floodlight for $50 a pop.

Not only does this site offer podcasts, which can also be downloaded directly from the site, for those on the go but it also offers plenty of information in text format.

You'll find how-to's, product information, tutorials of all types, contest information and contests sponsored by the site itself.

Check out the podcasts available on the "Digital Photography Show" and remember that you can always access the site from the links on the right side of the "Digital Shot" weblog.

Take a camera with you whenever possible, and look around, you'll find a picture somewhere.
